Black Hat SEO Techniques: The Big No-No

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a marketing technique that improves the volume of quality traffic to a web site (hopefully yours) from search engines. Quality traffic in this case would be from natural or organic search results. In opposition to SEO, paid inclusion of websites to search engines is called Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Either way, the higher the site appears in the search engine results, the more visitors it attracts. SEO considers how search engines work and how people search and what they search for. Ethical techniques to optimize are considered white hat. They include internal links, reciprocal links and writing content that is relevant to your site. In contrast, there are some techniques that are considered black hat and they may do more harm than good in the long run.
Link building and back links are two good ways to get traffic to your articles. Make sure that the links that you build are good quality links and that their content is relevant to your site. That will get you traffic that is interested in your product and people will not feel misled. Back links are simply links that lead back to your site. This takes work and all links are not equal. The important thing is to keep working on it and, if you decide to use reciprocal links, use them wisely. Don't put a bunch of non-related links on your site just to get back links. They won't help you in the long run. Finally, use the tools that are available to you. Google adwords is a tool to help you choose higher traffic keywords without keyword stuffing. Keep learning and listen to the experts and soon you will be too.
Black Hat Techniques
Black Hat techniques include link farms, keyword stuffing, and article spinning. These techniques have a derogatory reputation and they degrade the relevance of the search results and often, the user experience.
Link Farms are a group of websites that hyperlink to every other link in the group. Most are created through automated programs and services. Link farms are a form of spamming the index of a search engine called spamdexing.
Another questionable method is Keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is the act of using randomly repeated keywords over and over within your content. The web page is loaded with keywords in the meta tags and in the content. Keyword stuffing is completely outdated and adds no value to the rank of your page.
Article spinning is an attempt to manipulate the rank of a page by taking the same article and "spinning" it to avoid the duplicate content checkers. Article spinning software can corrupt the original meaning of the article and does not take into account the subtleties of the English language. Some software makes it virtually unreadable to humans.

Very interesting info. Great job reporting on this. Personally, I avoid trying to get the keywords right just for the search engines. I only work at the tags a bit. I write as I speak in person. It's so much easier. The rest is up to the search engines to rank according to how well the traffic adjusts over time. I put my trust in that.

There's a few misnomers here. "Keyword stuffing" becomes a problem when every other word is your keyword and your text is unreadable. I believe anything under 5% is not penalized. Your keyword being used every twenty words is still very high, and consequently very hard, to have readable content.
There are several other techniques which aren't quite so maninstream that involve spamming which are definite no-nos also. :)
But other than that, I enjoy this hub as a brief overview of the subject.
WriteAngled, search engines are more sophisticated than they used to be and look for natural writing patterns rather than how many times a keyword has been used. Write naturally and the context of your pages should be understood by search engines.
It’s not how many times a keyword is used that counts it’s how it is distributed through the web page that counts. By writing naturally your content is much more accessible to the human reader and search engines will also be happy because the most important words will naturally find their way to the most important page elements i.e page titles, headings, bold and emphasized text etc.
Write naturally and forget about all the keyword density nonsense, search engines have evolved a great deal from the bean counters they used to be.
I don't think so use the black hat SEO. Just normally to get traffic and click. But it depend the person. They will choose this technique or not.

I would disagree 100% with your commentary on spinning articles. If you try to use some BS software to rewrite for you, sure you will get complete junk. There is almost no commercially available software that can rewrite much of anything and make it work.
I spin articles all the time, but I write it all myself. Basically, you write an original article, then you rewrite each and every sentence. The software chooses version A or version B when outputting. If you know what you are doing, there is 0% chance anyone, including Google, would know the article was spun. It reads perfect and is a good article.
You get more runway room with them this way, but again, it takes far longer to create. I can write a 400-600 word article on a topic I am familiar with in about 10-15 minutes. To create a decent spin article, probably takes about 45 minutes or more.

I totally agreed that Black is a No No if you want a long term earning relationship with Adsense. I am afraid there is no shortcut to success.

It is a mystery to me at what point use of keywords becomes "stuffing" and is penalised. I've read so many articles, including some hubs, where the content sounds really unnatural and it is obvious the author is hoping to attract readers through the use of various phrases. I've also read advice on how it is necessary to have x % of the text consist of keywords. In my humble opinion, any contrived and conscious use of keywords is one of the main factors why writing for the Internet is killing off the art of good writing. It's a real pity that search engines operate in a way which promotes this decline and only punish the practice when it reaches a totally excessive level.
