Here I Sit On Christmas Eve
58
Here I Sit
Here I Sit on Christmas Eve,
Already missing those that will leave.
I try to recreate the past, but time is
flying by so fast.
The tree is up, the feast is planned,
presents are wrapped, all over the land.
So, here I sit, I wait for you
Wonder what you will do.
I sit, I wait till Christmas comes
Still staring at no Christmas cards.
I'm hungry and, Yes, I am so poor
Don't forget me,
Please open my door.
I'm old, I'm gray,
and all alone,
I am one of the residents
that live in a home.
I'm young and cold, living on the street,
Who's there for me?
Please, can we meet?
I'm sad and tired,
within a cell,
No love for me, only hell.
I am everyone and everything,
I am the peasant and the king.
I am you and I am me,
We all need love, can't you see?
If you see a lonely heart
If you see a homeless cart,
If you see that I'm in need,
It just may be you that's freed.
