Ryan Hupfer Explains HubPages

Two Months Later

I have been writing for Hub Pages for about two months and I have become very wealthy. No, not wealthy in cash, but in many other things just as important. For one, I have made new friends. That may not seem like a big deal, but after the past couple years, it is a wonderful feeling. Second, I have learned so much more about writing, content, keywords and back links than I ever thought possible. I still have much to learn, but I am confident that I will find what I need here. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, that I thought I would pass on what I have learned, like many of the others have done.

Money

I have made a little money, which is a bonus for me. Writing is what I am here for, I trust that I will earn more money as time goes by, as long as I put into practice all the tips I have picked up. Google appears to be the foundation of earning for this site. Because it is pay-per-click, I seem to make money easier than from Amazon. Amazon just confuses me. Other than listing their products on my hubs, I don't know any other way to make money from them. I do not have e-bay as of yet, because it is complicated to apply for. I have tried twice and have gotten nowhere. It is not worth my effort at this time, I have bigger fish to fry. So, for anyone who is new, I would advise them to sign up for AdSense right away. In addition, there are many other sites that use AdSense and you can you use the same account.

I have read hundreds of articles online and I think each one makes my next one better. Also, I have been the recipient of constructive criticism ( I asked for it), and that was very helpful. I will probably ask for more in the future. That is my number one way to make money from this site: listen to the people who know more than I!

Back Links

Oh, the more I learn about back links, the more that I realize how little I know. I do know that back links are important for incoming traffic. Since I don't have a website per se, just a blog, they are extremely important to me. I try and read all the hubs on traffic and I try almost every site suggested, as long as they are free. So far, I have used xomba.com and found it to be user friendly. Others that I have tried, I didn't like as well, for various reasons. I also write for e-how and I am hoping to back link to some of my articles here. They seem to hide their light under a bushel, so I haven't figured it out yet. I have received most of my traffic from Hub Pages so far, and for that, I thank you. Some of you must be reading my hubs. If you are the one, please leave a comment, even if it is just to say that you read it. Thank you, it makes me giggle when I get a comment. As I learn more, I will pass it on.

4 Months And No Payout

I have been writing on hubpages for 4 months now, and have yet to make payout. I have made a little more money and my traffic has increased marginally, but not enough for payout. I am getting frustrated with it, but I will not give up. I am determined to find a way to earn an income that i can rely on. I have been doing the hubmobs, and while I do get more traffic with them, it is mainly internal traffic. I am going to find more hubs about adsense and see what I am doing wrong. Here are a few links to what I have found.

Below is an excellent hub about effective keyword usage!

I have been trying to sell Amazon products for more than 6 month still has not made one conversion from the clicks. Looks like I have write few more hundreds articles. With Adsense, the result is much more encouraging :)

Good luck with you janiek13 !

Yes, I do marginally better with adsense also. 250 clicks with amazon, 2 sales, hmmm.

I agree about the backlink stuff. Important for traffic, but it seems kind of itty and bitty to get links here and there - I haven't really gone into all that. I don't really understand the Xombas and Pings and Technoratis - don't know what they actually do. Ditto Digg. I've got a toe in the water; you're in up to your knees!

I am still learning, but I try to submit my article links wherever I can. Digg is another social network where people submit their favorite articles to, I submit mostly mine, but I have submitted others that I like.

What is a 24 hour cookie and how does it affect sales?

Good article. I am also trying to sign up with e-bay but am left scratching my head wondering how. Would anyone be so kind as to walk Janiek13 and I threw the steps to make that happen?

Good luck with your hubs Janiek13, I am new here myself and still trying to learn all of the terminology and how it all works. I love the idea of writing a blog for free and attaching links to it and no matter how small of an amount you can make money while you sleep.

Cheers.

Thank you, Grant. I have a good friend that is named Grant, as well. E-Bay seems to be a little stuck up.

Good article, Janiek, I think you are not alone in trying to make money through adsense and amazon and so on! As far as i know, Hubpages is important like Squidoo for backlinks, but I haven't read anywhere that Hub itself is a money maker.

I am on the Warrior Forum and word there is that EBay is no longer worth dealing with. I am just starting with Amazon but have a ways to go. Keyword research is, well, key!

You're a good writer, do you write articles? I am writing for suite101 because it is more real articles than just how-to drivel. The general formula is to find a niche with high search and low competition, then write using keywords, and get lots of backlinks.

Anyhoo, you probably know all that. I liked your article on the elderly, I have been helping my sisters care for my mom who has recently been hit by pneumonia.

take care!

No, I haven't tried suite 101, but they are on my list of things to do. I also heard that ebay is more difficult to get approved. Good luck to you also.
