May Old Aquaintance Be Forgot: Happy New Year!

Old Year Gone
New Year's Eve is the last day of the year. Most of us celebrate it because we want to believe that the next year will be just a little better. We would like to believe that the troubles and the difficulties fade with the end of the old year. "Last year was a doozy, so glad it's gone", we whisper to ourselves. We made it through! It is a renewing of not only the calender year, but also a renewing of our goals, our determination and even a renewal of our spirits. Even if New Year's Day doesn't go well, we know that we have 364 more days to get it right. Surely, we can improve almost everything about our lives in 364 days! We can follow through with our resolutions and we can make the world a better place. We can help other people and we can give peace a chance. Oh, how we love New Year's Day! The Rose Bowl; the words themselves sound like a fresh start. Isn't that what most people want, a fresh start, to make amends, to forgive those that we believe wronged us, to ask forgiveness?
"Auld Lang Syne"
English translation
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
CHORUS:For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

I have been witness to the phenomena of hope in the face of hopelessness and faith when all has been lost. New Year's is the embodiment of all that could be. All is not lost because here comes another day, another week, another year. What will you do with your second chance? Isn't it wonderful to live in a world where every year is a second chance? This year has been a year of big changes in my life, some good, some not, but I will be alright. It's almost New year's Day!
